As I mentioned before, I won't make it to the SDCC this year but if you're interested in buying some original art by me, then you're in luck.

My friend/art dealer Rich Dedominicis will be attending the convention with Bryan Hitch. They can be found at Artist Alley table #AA11.

Rich will be bringing along a portfolio of my work with him to sell at the show. If you're interested in a specific piece, check out his The Art Of Comics website and contact Rich if you'd like to pick it up at the show. In any case, you can always order whatever you like from the site.

Hey people,

San Diego Comic Convention 2008 is only a few days away now. Unfortunately I personally won't be there but my good friend and art dealer Rich DeDominicis will be on the spot bringing along a selection of my original artwork.

He will of course be alongside Bryan Hitch and will be selling his original art as well. I'll post exact details on where to find them later.

So if you're interested in picking up some original Dynamo 5 art from me, be sure not to miss Rich in SDCC. If there's something specific you want be sure to contact Rich before the show.

Meanwhile The Art Of Comics website has been updated to showcase the original art for 12 issues of Dynamo 5. There are also some photos of Rich, Bryan and me from NYCC if you're interested in how our mugs look like.

Since Yesterday

My brother has a band called Since Yesterday. They've asked me if I would come up with some images that could be used on a t-shirt or something so I gave it a shot and came up with the following poor attempts at graphic design.

Second Trade On Shelves!

Hey people,

Work and laziness is keeping me from posting more frequently. Besides I have been having issues posting images to my blog.

The highly anticipated second TPB of Dynamo 5 is out. This volume contains issues 8 through 13 and is entitled Moments of Truth. Ask for it from your local retailer. I still haven't seen it myself so I'm dying of curiosity. Feel free to share your thoughts on it if you've got it.

Meanwhile single issue fans have no fear! The 14th issue will be out next week. This issue was co-drawn with my good buddy and Noble Causes artist Yildiray Cinar. You're definitely in for some visual pleasure there.

This Wednesday (May 23rd) in your favourite comic book retailer; Dynamo 5 #13. What? What do you mean your comic book shop doesn't order Dynamo 5? Now, I'm not sure if I'd call that a proper comic book store. :D

This issue concludes the second major story arc for the Dynamo kids. Which also means the second TPB is on the way sometime later this year.

Eagle Awards Results

Hey friends,

Just found out about the results for the Eagle Awards held at the Bristol Comic Expo this past weekend. Sadly, I didn't get an award as Favourite Newcomer Artist. In any case, I'm writing to say a big THANK YOU for everyone who did vote for me. I sincerely and infinitely appreciate it very much.

Who knows? Maybe sometime in the future. Now I gotta better get back to my drawing table if I'm to hope for something like that.

The 12th issue of our fine comic book publication is out on the shelves now. Check it out if you haven't.Meanwhile Jay and I are happy to present you the very first Dynamo 5 Annual. The book will be out tomorrow! The cover which I have drawn for the book is shown here while the book contains the talents of many cool artists like Gabe Bridwell, Jack Lawrence and Matthew Humphreys. The book will also reprint the first appearance of Captain Dynamo in Noble Causes drawn by Fran Bueno. Not to forget the book also contains an amazing gallery by artists like Yildiray Cinar, Dusty Abell, Andie Tong, Juan Ferreyra and Ray Anthony Height. So don't forget to check it out. Cheers.

Eagle Awards Voting Done

The voting phase for the Eagle Awards are done. The winners will be announced in this year's Bristol International Comic Expo between the 9th and 11th of this month. This means it's this weekend!

As you may (or may not) know I have been nominated as Best Newcomer Artist and Dynamo 5 TPB Vol I has been nominated as Best Collected Edition. I would like to thank each and everyone who has voted for me to this point. I'd like you to know that I greatly appreciate it.

New York & Commissions Update

Hey everybody,

Today I'll be completing another issue of Dynamo 5. And it's time to pack and get ready for the trip. I'll be in NY for a week and hopefully have a great time. I'm really looking forward to meeting everybody. Here's more on my convention schedule;

I'll be attending all three days and hang out in the convention center throughout. I don't have a fixed spot but I'll have signing hours on the Image Comics booth #1407 on Friday and Sunday. The Sunday signing will be starting at 12:00. In any case I'll hang around the Image booth pretty much. On Saturday I'll have signing time in the Midtown Comics booth #1541 starting at 13:00(01:00pm). Besides that as I've mentioned before I'll be joining Rich DeDominicis and Bryan Hitch in the Artist Alley table F1.

COMMISSIONS NOTICE

Meanwhile I've also completed all the commissions I've taken on. So if you've requested something of me it will be with me and waiting for you all three days of the NYCC show. You can find me at the spots and hours I've mentioned above. If you have difficulty finding me please ask about my whereabouts to Rich in Artist Alley or someone in the Image booth and all will be worked out shortly.

If you're interested in picking up original art from me please drop by Rich's table. He'll be bringing a variety of my Dynamo 5 stuff. I'll also have some sketch type pieces with me for sale for anybody who's interested.

New York Comic Con 2008 + Commissions

I will be attending the New York Comic Con 2008 that will take place in the Jacob Javitz Center in April 18-20.

I will be hanging out at the Image Comics booth (#1407) mostly with my buddies Yildiray Cinar and Jay Faerber. There will also be an exclusive signing with the three of us in the Midtown Comics booth (#1541) on Saturday (see image to the right).

You can also spot me around Bryan Hitch's artist alley table with Rich DeDominicis, who will also be bringing some original art (including mine) for sale.

COMMISSIONS & SKETCHING

I will be accepting commissions and sketch requests before the show, to be picked up at the show. Here is what I'll be available to do;

Commission Sketches - These will be full figure, single character grayscale marker sketches on 11" x 17" art boards.

Bust/Torso Sketches - These will be single character grayscale marker sketches on A4 size paper. This is a more economical choice.

So if you're interested in getting something from me please contact me as soon as you can for pricing and what you'd like.

I can't say at this point if I'll be available to do sketches at the show but please go ahead and ask if you're interested. In addition I will also be bringing some original art and prints with me.

This will be probably my only convention attendance this year so I'm looking forward to having a great time. Don't be a stranger and drop by to say hi. More updates and details on the show coming soon.

So I guess this is good news for those of you were interested in owning original artwork by me. I've had the chance to attend a conference/panel/chat as a lecturer arranged by my friend Elif Varol Ergen in Hacettepe University where I've had the chance to share my comic book experiences with the students. I've really had a ton of fun and talked for a few good hours. This has been a cool experience on my part as I'm quite an introvert and shy especially in situations where I'm the center of attention in a crowd. So my thanks to my friend Elif and all the attending students for their interest.

DC Legacy

Hey everybody.

Been a while since I've updated my blog. So I guess those few of you who frequented this place have probably grown even fewer! :D Anyhow, I'm back and hopefully will stick around for more frequent updates.

In the meantime the DC Legacy Trading Card Set has been released a little while back and apparently is receiving nice response. You can get more info on the card set and the artists that worked on this project by visiting their site here. The cards have hit eBay fast and there are a number of mine there too. So if you're interested go and look for them. Here are some samples of what I've done for the set.

You can check them out closer by clicking on them. This set was so much fun to work on but I was too busy at the time to give proper attention to them. So I guess they could have been much better. Given the circumstances I still enjoy some of the work I've done here. I will be posting more later. Enjoy.

R.I.P. Mike Wieringo

One of the most talented artists in the comics industry today has passed away this Sunday at the early age of 44. Not only was Mr. Wieringo a very talented artist he was also a big influence to me with his clean and strong style. He was also probably one of the most approachable and kindest guys out there who I've only corresponded through the net. Below is the last sketch he has posted on his frequently updated blog.

NO WATER!

Man, I'm having a bad time these days. The weather is extremely hot. The electricity fluctuates time to time which destroys my internet connection and on top of all that there's NO WATER!

There's been a water shortage in the city for a while and due to horrible management of the municipality and politicians. And this is supposed to be the Capitol city. This could have all been avoided if they took action some years ago when all this was predicted! I'm so pissed I can't begin to describe it.

Sorry about the ranting. Just felt I'd let it out a little.

At least I can draw! :D

Dynamo 5 on G4 & Wizard

Blair Butler from G4TV sure likes Dynamo 5 a lot. So much so that Dynamo 5 is the first thing she mentions while interviewing Erik Larsen! Dynamo 5 has been mentioned a few times during the channel's San Diego Comic-Con 2007 live coverage. Here's a link where you can watch the features online;

Dynamo 5 has also been featured in the latest issue (#191) of Wizard - The Comics Magazine. Jim Gibbons has featured Dynamo 5 as the headliner in the Secret Stash section and has written a detailed article on the book with lots of nice things to say. The issue came out earlier this week so go out there and grab it.

Both of these have been great exposure for Dynamo 5. So thanks go out to all involved for the love and support.

Hasan İzettin Dynamo 5!

During my visit to Trabzon we noticed a bust of a famous historical figure of the city; Hasan İzettin Dinamo. This was a big surprise to me. You must agree, Dinamo is not an ordinary surname. Since this was a fun coincidence I thought I'd share it with you here.

Here's the English info on the plaque below the bust (with a bit of correction) which also shed some light to my ignorance aswell;

He was born in Akcaabat district of Trabzon. He is the writer of the book "Holy Rebellion" in which the National Struggle years were illustrated in detailed context. With his "Holy Peace" book, he was awarded with "Orhan Kemal Novel Prize". He also has a number of books and poems on his immigration years.

Hey all,

Last week I traveled 12 hours from Ankara to Trabzon, the hometown of my wife. This was the first time ever that I've been there and it was a lot of fun. In the limited time that I had I visited quite a number of places that are of importance around the city. I've seen museums, historical buildings, surrounding spots and a whole lot of natural beauty. I've also had the chance to meet lot of my wife's relatives and family friends. We've also been to the village and surrounding area of my wife's parents. I can't begin to describe how beautiful the landscape is. Meanwhile I've kept busy and managed to pencil 5 Dynamo 5 pages too.

The people were a bit on the conservative side but very warm and hospitable nonetheless. They certainly love their culture, music and food. The accent they use is also very unique and sometimes even a bit hilarious to listen to. I've picked up a few things myself and my speech started to transform.

All this while I've ate quite a bit of food and I have to admit that the Black Sea cuisine is very compatible with my taste. Also I don't think I've had this much tea in a long time (up to 7-8 cups a day).

I've had quite a lot of fun and this was a very memorable and interesting trip. I hope to visit again sometime and do the things I missed out on this time around and also repeat quiet a bit of what I have done. Here are some photos we took on our trip.

Asrar have announced the first DYNAMO 5 collection will be a massive 176-page trade paperback with the low introductory price of $9.99. "With issue four's sell-out and the series' rising orders, it's obvious there's a high demand for the trade paperback," said Faerber. "We decided to go with a special low price, as I want as many eyes to see this as possible, especially with the new arc kicking off the same day!"

The trade, collecting DYNAMO 5's first seven issues, begins with the death of the world's greatest hero, Captain Dynamo, and his enemies' subsequent onslaught upon on his unprotected city. With no one to stand against them, his widow locates his five illegitimate children, each of whom have inherited one of their father's super-powers.
